It would be our great honor to welcome you to the XII. International Prosthetics and Orthotics Congress, bringing together science, technology, and sustainability in the field of prosthetics and orthotics.

XII. INTERNATIONAL PROSTHETICS AND ORTHOTICS CONGRESS

ABSTRACT PREPARATION AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Accepted and presented abstracts will be published in the congress special issue of the Turkish Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics Science indexed in the Academic Resource Index and the Eurasian Scientific Journal Index. Abstracts must be submitted online only through the official congress website. The deadline for abstract submission is 31.08.2026.

Authors of accepted abstracts may submit their studies as full-text manuscripts to the Turkish Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics Science (TJPOS) in accordance with the journal’s manuscript preparation guidelines. Submitted manuscripts will be subject to the journal’s standard peer-review process, and studies deemed suitable following evaluation may be published as full-text articles in the journal.

Full-text submission is not mandatory.

Our congress meets the criteria for Associate Professorship.

First, second, and third place awards will be granted for oral presentations. Certificates and awards will be presented to the recipients during the congress closing ceremony.

1. GENERAL RULES

  • Abstracts must be prepared in both Turkish and English.
  • The Turkish abstract and the English abstract must be identical in terms of content.
  • The Turkish title must be placed at the beginning of the Turkish abstract, and the English title must be placed at the beginning of the English abstract.
  • The Congress Scientific Committee will evaluate submissions in terms of scientific content, originality, methodological adequacy, and relevance to the congress theme.
  • Abstracts that do not comply with the writing guidelines will not be included in the scientific evaluation process.
  • Each participant may submit a maximum of two abstracts.
  • Each participant may present a maximum of two abstracts.
  • In order for abstracts to be included in the congress special issue of the journal, at least one of the abstract authors must be registered for the congress.
  • Congress registration is made individually and does not cover other authors listed in the abstract.

2. ABSTRACT TITLE

  • The title must clearly and accurately describe the study.
  • Abbreviations must not be used in the title.
  • The title must not exceed 200 characters.

3. AUTHOR AND AFFILIATION INFORMATION

  • The names, surnames, and institutional affiliations of all authors must be entered completely in the relevant fields of the system.
  • If there is more than one institution, superscript numbering must be used.
  • The author who will present the abstract at the congress must be marked as the “presenting author” in the system.
  • All authors must have made a scientific contribution to the study.
  • Since a blind peer-review process will be applied during abstract evaluation, author and affiliation information will be hidden in the texts sent to reviewers.

4. ABSTRACT WRITING GUIDELINES

  • The abstract in each language must not exceed 250 words.
  • The abstract text must include the following subheadings:

Turkish Abstract:
Purpose
Methods
Results
Conclusion

English Abstract:
Purpose
Methods
Results
Conclusion

  • The purpose of the study must be clearly stated, the methods used must be summarized, the main findings must be presented with sufficient numerical data, and the conclusion section must be prepared in line with the findings obtained.
  • When statistically significant results are reported, appropriate p values must be provided.
  • Unnecessary abbreviations should be avoided in the abstract.
  • Abbreviations used for the first time must be written in full, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.

5. CASE REPORTS

  • Case reports must be prepared in a structured abstract format.
  • In case reports, the clinical significance of the case, evaluation process, applied approach, and outcomes must be clearly stated.

6. KEYWORDS

  • Keywords must be included at the end of both the Turkish and English abstracts.
  • A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 keywords must be provided for each language.
  • Keywords must be arranged in alphabetical order.
  • Keywords must be separated by commas.
  • The first letter of each keyword must be capitalized.
  • It is recommended that keywords be selected from MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) or relevant international terminology sources.

7. EVALUATION OF ABSTRACTS

  • All abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Review Committee in accordance with double-blind peer-review principles.

The following criteria will be considered during the evaluation:

  • Scientific originality
    Relevance to the purpose and scope
    Methodological adequacy
    Scientific contribution of the results
    Contribution to the field of prosthetics and orthotics
    Compliance with writing guidelines

Following the evaluation, abstracts will be decided as:

  • Accepted
  • Accepted After Revision
  • Rejected
  • Results will be communicated to the corresponding author by email.
  • In order for accepted abstracts to be presented, the presenting author must complete congress registration.
  • Abstracts that are not presented will not be published in the journal.

8. PRESENTATION RULES

  • Only oral presentations will be accepted.
  • The total duration of an oral presentation is 7 minutes:
  • 5 minutes for presentation
  • 2 minutes for discussion
  • The presentation language may be Turkish or English.
  • In order for the abstract to be included in the congress program, the presenting author must have completed congress registration.

9. FULL-TEXT SUBMISSION

  • Full-text submission is not mandatory. All accepted and presented abstracts will be published in the congress special issue of the Turkish Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics Science indexed in the Academic Resource Index and the Eurasian Scientific Journal Index.
  • For an abstract to be submitted as a full-text manuscript, it must be prepared in accordance with the manuscript writing guidelines of the Turkish Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics Science (TJPOS) and submitted to the journal. Authors should benefit from the journal templates when preparing full-text manuscripts.
  • In order for abstracts to be published as full-text articles, they must be submitted to the journal no later than 11.2026.
  • Abstracts submitted as full-text manuscripts will be published as full-text articles in an appropriate issue of the journal if accepted following the journal’s peer-review process.

10. PUBLICATION AND ETHICAL PRINCIPLES

  • All submitted studies must comply with research and publication ethics.
  • By submitting an abstract, authors are deemed to have accepted that the study is original, prepared in accordance with ethical principles, and approved for publication.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the congress special issue of the Turkish Journal of Prosthetics and Orthotics Science.

All announcements regarding abstract submission and the evaluation process will be made through the official congress website and email system. Authors are required to enter up-to-date contact information into the system.
